Odoo consultant: independent advice, discovery first

Independent Odoo advice, with no partner interest and no licence sales. Every engagement starts with a paid discovery. Also for an Odoo project that has stalled, or an Odoo quote you want checked before you sign.

What is Odoo?

Odoo is a modular ERP package with a free Community edition and a paid Enterprise edition. Most of the cost sits in implementation, customisation, hosting and maintenance, not only in the licence. LogicX advises independently of Odoo and does not resell Odoo licences.

Sound familiar?

Six situations where independent Odoo advice is worth more than another quote.

An Odoo quote on the table

A partner has made a proposal and you want to know which assumptions will cost money later.

An Odoo project that keeps slipping

Go-live has moved, the partner reports green, and your users do not recognise that picture.

An old version with customisation

Your Odoo runs on a version that is no longer supported, and nobody dares touch the custom modules.

Community or Enterprise

You cannot tell whether the free edition is enough, or when Enterprise earns its price.

Systems running beside Odoo

Web shop, accounting or logistics run separately from Odoo, and data gets re-keyed.

Numbers outside the system

Management gets its reporting from spreadsheets, not from Odoo.

How an Odoo engagement with LogicX works

The discovery is fixed. Everything after it is a decision based on the plan.

Step 1

Paid discovery

Processes, requirements and risks, usually 1 to 3 weeks. With an answer to whether Odoo fits at all, and if so, Community or Enterprise.

Step 2

Plan with a fixed price

Phases, schedule, the customisation that is really needed and a fixed price. The plan is yours, including when another party delivers it.

Step 3

Implementation or upgrade

Only when the plan supports it: configuration, migration, testing with your key users, a go-live with a fallback plan.

Step 4

After go-live

Support in the first weeks. Then Odoo support, on terms agreed per client.

What we do with Odoo

Stalled Odoo project

The Programme Recovery Review gives you a written recommendation in 3 weeks: continue, reset or stop. To start smaller, there is the Project Health Check, 5 working days.

Odoo support

Odoo support from LogicX is functional support after go-live: answering user questions, making small improvements and adjusting processes, through a named contact. We provide it independently of Odoo and of your implementation partner. Scope, response times and data arrangements are agreed per client; it is not a packaged product.

After go-live

An Odoo installation with customisation keeps working only if someone looks after the upgrades, tests and deploys: Odoo releases a new version every year, and custom modules have to be adapted to it. That is why we already limit customisation in the discovery, and why every go-live comes with an agreement on who handles updates, backups with a restore test and upgrades. That can be LogicX, by agreement and on terms set per client. You buy the Odoo subscription yourself; we do not sell it.

Who it is for / Not for

Who it is for

Organisations considering Odoo that want to know first whether it fits and what it will take. Organisations with a running or stalled Odoo project. And anyone with an Odoo quote who wants an independent check.

Not for

Anyone who wants an Odoo partner from Odoos own partner list: that is not us, and that is exactly why we can look critically at their work. We do not sell Odoo licences. We do not do SAP, Oracle or Dynamics. And with a handful of users and standard processes, starting with Odoo Community yourself is usually cheaper than an engagement with us.

Independent, on purpose. There is no shortage of Odoo implementers; what is often missing is someone with no stake in licence sales or in who implements it. LogicX sells no licences, is not a partner and receives no fees from suppliers. We explain why we recommend a platform. If we also propose the implementation, that is a separate engagement, and you can take the discovery to another delivery partner.

Frequently asked questions: cost

What does Odoo cost?

Odoo has a free Community edition and a paid Enterprise edition. Beyond any licence you pay for implementation, customisation, hosting and maintenance, and that is usually the larger part. An implementation for a small or mid-sized company usually starts from €10,000, excluding VAT. You get the exact figure after the discovery, as a fixed price.

Community or Enterprise?

Community is the free edition, Enterprise the paid one. Which fits you depends on the features you actually use and on who maintains the system; the discovery gives a reasoned answer. An Enterprise subscription you take out with Odoo yourself.

Do you earn anything on Odoo licences?

No. We do not sell Odoo licences and we are not an Odoo partner. Our advice on Community versus Enterprise is not coloured by a margin.

Frequently asked questions: approach

Are you an official Odoo partner?

No. We work independently of Odoo. That lets us look critically at an Odoo partners quote or work, and it means we will just as readily recommend ERPNext, or no new system at all, when that fits better.

Our Odoo project is stuck. What now?

Then the Programme Recovery Review is the step: in 3 weeks, a written recommendation to continue, reset or stop, with a recovery plan for your board. If you first want to know where the project stands, there is the Project Health Check, 5 working days. If you go on to the Recovery Review within 30 days, the Health Check fee is credited.

We already have an Odoo quote. Is a discovery still useful?

Yes. The discovery records your processes and requirements and becomes the yardstick for that quote: you see which scope, assumptions and costs hold up, and what you can still negotiate.

Frequently asked questions: after go-live

What does Odoo support from LogicX include?

Functional support after go-live: user questions, small improvements and process adjustments, through a named contact. Scope and terms are agreed per client.

What happens to customisation when a new Odoo version comes out?

Custom modules have to be adapted to every new version to keep working. Who does that, and when, is agreed before the system goes live. Where we can, we replace customisation with standard.
