ERP consultant: independent advice on Odoo and ERPNext
Two platforms, Odoo and ERPNext, and one order of work: a paid discovery of your processes, requirements and risks first, then a plan with a fixed price. Implementation, migration and integrations only follow once that plan exists.
At a glance
What does an ERP consultant do?
An ERP consultant works out what your organisation needs from an ERP system and guides the selection, implementation, migration and integrations. At LogicX that starts with a paid discovery of processes, requirements and risks; an Odoo or ERPNext implementation follows only once a plan with a fixed price is on the table. The plan is yours, including when another party carries it out.
Sound familiar?
The situations organisations bring to us. None of them starts with picking a package.
Disconnected systems
More than three systems carry your core processes, and staff re-key data from one to the next.
Reporting by hand
Month-end numbers come out of exports and spreadsheets, not live from the system.
A quote on the table
A supplier has made a proposal and you want to know whether the scope, plan and total cost hold up before you sign.
An ERP that has to be replaced
A replacement or upgrade is planned, but the current system is full of customisation and nobody can say how much of it is still needed.
A project that keeps slipping
Go-live has already moved once and nobody will name a new date they can justify.
Stock without visibility
Stock value, turnover and shortages only become clear after the fact, when it is too late to act.
How we run an ERP engagement
Facts first, then the price, and only then the delivery.
Paid discovery
Processes, requirements and risks mapped, usually 1 to 3 weeks. You get a plan with a fixed price for the work.
Your decision
You carry out the plan with us, with another party, or not yet. There is no commitment.
Implementation or migration
Only on the basis of that plan: configuration, data migration, testing and training with your key users, a go-live with a fallback plan. As much standard as possible, customisation only where it is really needed.
After go-live
Support in the first weeks. Then, if you want it, agreed arrangements for updates, backups and a named contact.
Our ERP services
Six parts. The discovery has a fixed price; the plan gives a fixed price for the work, under the assumptions it sets out.
Paid discovery
The first step of every engagement: processes, requirements, risks and a plan with a fixed price.
See paid discoveryOdoo or ERPNext: the two platforms
Which of the two fits, and whether either fits, comes out of the discovery. Our advice there is independent.
Odoo
A modular ERP package with a free Community edition and a paid Enterprise edition. We advise independently of Odoo and do not sell licences.
See OdooERPNext
Open-source ERP for accounting, stock, sales, purchasing and projects, among other things. ERPNext itself is free to use; the cost is in implementation, hosting and maintenance.

Who it is for
Organisations running several disconnected systems or replacing a legacy one, organisations that want an ERP quote checked, and organisations with an ERP project that is not landing. With key users who are given time to decide and to test.
Not for
SAP, Oracle or Dynamics: we do not implement those. We do not sell Odoo licences. And if you want an implementer from Odoos own partner list, that is not us: our advice is independent.
After go-live
An ERP system only stays useful if someone looks after it. After the first weeks of support we can keep doing that: updates and security patches tested before they go live, backups with a restore test, upgrades that keep your customisation and integrations working, and a named contact for questions and small improvements. It has no fixed shape: scope, response times and data arrangements are agreed per client and written into the proposal.
Frequently asked questions: cost
What does an ERP implementation cost?
For small and mid-sized companies an ERP implementation usually starts from €10,000, excluding VAT. The exact figure depends on scope, number of users, integrations and data migration. That is why every engagement starts with a paid discovery, which has its own fixed price. After it you get a plan with a fixed price for the work.
Why is the discovery paid?
Because it is real work: interviews with the people who know the processes, requirements written down, risks named. The result is yours, even if you do not continue with us.
What do Odoo and ERPNext themselves cost?
ERPNext is open source and free to use. Odoo has a free Community edition and a paid Enterprise edition. In both cases the cost sits mainly in implementation, customisation, hosting and maintenance, not in the software.
Frequently asked questions: approach
Can we run an ERP project ourselves?
Partly. With a handful of users and standard processes, starting with the standard edition yourself is usually cheaper. The discovery shows where you need help and where you do not.
What if the discovery says we should not start?
Then the plan says so, with the reasons. You have a case to take to your board and no contract for an implementation.
What do you need from us?
Access to the people who run the processes every day, and time from your key users to test and decide. For a migration, access to the old system and the data in it.
How is this different from the Programme Recovery Review?
The ERP services are for a new or running engagement you want set up properly. If an ERP project is already stuck, the Programme Recovery Review is the step: in 3 weeks, a written recommendation to continue, reset or stop. To start smaller there is the Project Health Check, 5 working days.
